What IS ‘fat shaming’?

Over the years, it has become en vogue to tell someone of an unpopular opinion that that they are ‘phobic’ or ‘shaming’.

There is ‘Christos-shaming’ where Christians are vilified and/or people try to ‘shame’ them for their beliefs. There is ‘creation-shaming’ where Christians are shamed for believing in creation over evolution. Some are even shamed by other Christians for making efforts toward living a pure life and adhering to scripture.

It seems that for every person who likes something, there is someone else who does not. This unhappy person will spend way too much energy trying to ‘shame’ you for just living a life that brings you joy. The people who shame other people for what they enjoy doing might be hiding a narcissistic personality disorder since they just LOVE telling other people what they should and should not enjoy doing… but I’m no expert of disorders, and that is not what this post is about.

This post is about fat shaming, and yes, FIT shaming. I have seen people shame other people on social media for wanting to preserve the hard work they have put into working out and being fit rather than observing religious fasting.

There are many ways to observe religious fasting. One of those other ways of observing a religious fast is by keeping control of your mouth. We must guarding what comes out of our mouths and now with social media, what comes out of our keyboards. If you keep a strict fast but go around condemning others, mocking them, criticizing and judging them, you have erased ALL of your efforts you would have gained by fasting. Poof! They are completely gone.

I chose to write about the topic of shaming because as you embark upon your wellness journey, you will encounter opposition. Not as much from enemies as you might think, but more so from friends… or rather people you thought were your friend until you chose to make some changes in your life that make them feel challenged or left behind.

A more well known example of fit shaming is what happened to the singer, Adele. Adele was ‘fit’ shamed by disloyal ‘fans’ when she chose to go on her own wellness journey and drop over 100 pounds. No matter how devoted a fan you are/were, Adele owes you nothing. No one ‘owes’ you anything. It is not Adele’s job to make sure you have a fat role model to help you feel good about yourself and you do not owe it to anyone to remain fat so that they do not feel bad about themselves.

Years ago there was a Christian ministry that helped certain males overcome their certain ‘issues’- should they WANT to try and come out of that lifestyle. However, because some people thought, erroneously (there are plenty of studies done to back up the fact that certain proclivities are chosen and can be overcome) that people could never NOT be THAT… that the institution should be closed down thus removing forever (unless people chose to try and self heal) a place that offered an alternative to their alternative. EVERYONE was denied the chance to change by going to that institution because a few people thought it was wrong for them to try and do so. A minor number of people decided something for others with no regard for their wishes, and THAT is a travesty.

I do wonder if we will be like that one day soon about gyms and fitness. Although ‘fitness’; gyms, supplements, surgeries, equipment, etc., is a multi-billion dollar industry, I can see it being attacked and gyms shutting down all over the country because some snowflake somewhere got a ‘butt hurt’ because they want everyone to ‘own it’… to accept their bodies how they are and never ever try to improve them by losing weight. One person deciding everything for everyone else is not a democracy. No mandate is part of a democracy.

Folks, there are certain things that are just not healthy for us and being 100+ pounds over weight is one of them.

What then IS fat shaming if encouraging people to live a healthy, fit life is not shameful?

Fat shaming is; name calling, teasing, belittling, bullying, mocking, condemning, etc. a person who is fat, obese, or overweight to a certain degree. yes, when children tear one another apart with words over their appearance it is a horrible thing and should not be tolerated. Deciding to lose weight because you get winded walking across your house is nothing to be ashamed about and you do not owe it to anyone to remain obese. Did you ‘get’ that.

You do not owe it to anyone to remain obese.

Do you know why it is ok for you to lose weight and not stay fat/obese for other people? Because NO ONE OWNS YOU!

The reason why it is important to talk about such things is because there are too many people in the world with messed up lives and control issues who are determined to try and manipulate and control the rest of us. Some of them are just scared your changes will lead to you leaving them. A legitimate concern for some people. Some of them will hate you for changing because you did not seek them out before you began your journey. These people think you must consult them, seek their approval and when you do not, they are offended and may even ridicule your efforts and dreams of change.

I tell you these things not to scare you off, but to try and prepare you for what might be coming when you embark upon your journey. Do not allow these people to get in your way. Your health, and well being, is far more important than the feelings, and opinions on how you should live your life, of other people who cannot even cheer you on toward victory.

People who may themselves be in need of a wellness journey of their own.

It is disgusting how other people try to destroy the lives of those around them. You just keep putting one foot in front of the other and do not look back.

Essential oil workout blend and getting a jump on wellness goals

2 drops Citrus Fresh essential oil blend 2 drops Vetiver essential oil 2 drops Black Pepper essential oil 2 drops Cedarwood essential oil

I don’t know about you, but I really dislike working out. I enjoy the health benefits, but over all it is not my ‘go-to’ for mental health and wellness. I have bad choices for that; chocolate, peanut butter, caffeine, etc.

After spending the summer marinating in stress and anxiety, it is time to get back on the workout wagon. Once again I am offering my workout book as a gift to you.

You can help support this blog, and the free workout book, by going to my Young Living website to order your essential oils and supplements. Starting Monday, Young living is having a big sale. You can find the essential oils listed above and many others as well as supplements to help get you started on, and continuing toward, your wellness goals.

Although presently out of stock as a kit, I have several of the Young Living Slique products in my on line basket ready to be shipped to me on the first of December as part of my monthly subscription order. I will be documenting my progress on my blog but let me give you a heads up. If a Young Living product is out of stock there is a good reason for it… people LOVE it. If you struggle with your weight you might consider giving this product a go and see if it helps you reach, and maintain your weight loss goals.

I am not waiting for January 1st. With thousands of Young Living customers in the same mindset at the first of the year making weight loss a goal for the new year, maybe waiting until then to purchase your wellness products is not such a good idea? Maybe now is the time to at least prepare for new year resolutions and goals setting?

Legal stuff: I cannot guarantee success using these, or any other products sold by me or Young Living. Please consult with your doctor before beginning this, or any other wellness journey to make sure you are fit enough to be on a wellness journey. Please carefully read all ingredient lists for comparability with any food, or plant, issues you may have. While most essential oils are generally regarded as safe, serious complications can arise unexpectedly. Discontinue use immediately if reaction occurs. Seek medical help if needed.

Believing in, and pushing the teachings of, evolution leads to death

Adolf Hitler quote in Green Bay Southwest yearbook causes controversy
It's Easier to Fool People… | Mark twain quotes, Mark twain, Great quotes

The lie is; evolution is real and there is no God.

Believe your bible.

Evolution is a heresy and should never be condoned by the pulpit. It is what is behind abortions, Hitler and his gang of thugs burning Europe and ultimately bringing the world genocide and WWII.

Soon, we will be commemorating the 20th anniversary of 911. Twenty years, can you believe it’s been that long?

The same rally cry, ‘never again!’, which echoed around the world after WWII and in America after 911 seems to have been forgotten. We can’t even have political discussions without them deteriorating into fist fights and in some tragic cases, even death. Heck, vegans can’t even declare their beliefs without extreme vitriol and hate to the point of making death threats. Where is our sense of loyalty and community to one another simply because we call ourselves, American? Standing shoulder to shoulder against our enemies is a thing of the past. There is so much death and infighting we are eating ourselves.

What does ouroboros mean? The ouroboros is an ancient symbol of a snake or serpent eating its own tail, variously signifying infinity and the cycle of birth and death.

http://www.dictionary.com

What an odd definition. A snake, or anything else for that matter, eating itself ultimately destroys itself. Only Christ was resurrected. Only the Christian Trinity is infinite. See how the lies look cool but ultimately lead to death?

Watch The extraordinary moment a snake eats its OWN TAIL after mistaking it for a rival predator | Daily Mail Online
This poor thing is never going to live again. It mistook itself for food, or an enemy, and devoured itself.

This poor thing is never going to live again. There is no infinity in it. It mistook itself for food, or an enemy, and devoured itself. This is where America is right now. We are standing on the edge of a knife. We are either going to go too far in the direction of death and become Russia during its darkest times of killing its own people and almost, ultimately, itself as a nation, or we are going to straighten up, tighten our ‘mercy belts’ and stop attacking each other when we do not see eye-to-eye.

Micah 7:6
For a son dishonors his father, a daughter rises against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man’s enemies are the members of his own household.

Matthew 10:21
Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rise against their parents and have them put to death.

Matthew 10:35
For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

Luke 12:52
From now on, five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three.

This is all coming about because the war really is virtue against barbarism. It is not virtuous to kill unborn children simply because they ‘got in the way’ of your life. It is not virtuous to threaten, or attack, people who eat meat. It is not virtuous to say you want to attack ‘the patriarchy’ because you hate men. it’s not ok to hate men. It’s not ok to hate anyone.

It is hard to be patient with people who are attacking you. It is hard to pray for your enemies. Mercy is hard. That's why Jesus told us to be merciful.

James 2:13 For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy … because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment. There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. “Blessed are the merciful, for they

Romans 9:15 For He says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have … For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” For God said to Moses

Luke 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. Be merciful

Think about it, why was Jesus hated so much? No other deity in the history of the world has be vilified and hated as much as Christ. He taught; peace, mercy, love, going the extra mile (literally and figuratively). other religions teach similar things but no one swears in the name of pagan gods. No one burns pagan symbols, attacks Norse creation myths, or does any of the hateful things people do do Christian symbols.

‘To the barbarian, virtue is a blemish.’-(I heard Rabbi Lapin say this but I think he was quoting someone else. I can’t remember who.)

Christ is hated because He taught unprecedented levels of virtue. He taught that life is sacred. Although he did not abolish the law, he took the law to a new level. There was to be no more manipulation of the law (but it still happens in churches everywhere).

I urge you to leave your church if they; support abortion, gay marriage, your pastor is divorced and remarried, they do not believe the eucharist IS the body and blood of Christ, they teach evolution in any form over or in conjunction with creation, they push tithing while members of your congregation are starving and losing their homes while your pastor lives in a mcmansion, they promote ‘if you’re good enough’ no harm will ever come to you (that’s legalism folks), basically, if your church boasts that it is ‘progressive’ it’s not a proper Christian church. What they are really doing is promoting the views, and values of the world.

This book is an excellent resource for understanding what the world was like when Christ came into it, and what people were into that was so unacceptable, Hint: pretty much everything that has become acceptable to progressive ‘christianity’ is just a rehash of what Christ taught against during His ministry.

When the Church Was Young: Voices of the Early Fathers by [Marcellino D'Ambrosio]

Scripture tells us, ‘God never changes’. So why all of the changes to Christianity? Why are there hundreds of thousands of denominations? Each denomination convinced it is the only way to be Christian and yet it looks almost nothing like the early church?

Find, and read, books that support creation over evolution. read them to your children. Teach them God is sovereign, not science. Teach them that all human life is sacred.

Your best self?

We hear so much these days about ‘self-care’. We used to be focused on self-improvement. I think things have a way of getting out of hand if there is no, ‘God plan’.

As Christians, everything we do should be with God in mind. Scripture is a great way to understand God and His will (did you get that… HIS will (for our lives.

One of the great warriors for God, and self-improvement… biblical self-improvement is, Rabbi Daniel Lapin. I love listening to, Rabbi Daniel Lapin. He gives great, biblical based advice in a loving, fatherly way. I’m not Jewish but he’s ‘my’ Rabbi.

Here is a video of his. I plan to implement some of the things he advises. I am picking and choosing what to do because taking on too much, even with good intentions, can backfire and end up defeating the purpose.

5 Ways to Overcome Feeling Overwhelmed | TheSelfEmployed.com

The things I am going to do for the next week at least?

  1. No t.v.. this is a big deal for me because I love stories and I love t.v. and movies. So no cheating. I will not be watching Amazon Prime or Netflix. I will allow myself Rabbi Daniel Lapin or Orthodox videos.
  2. read more. I love to read and I do so in between other tasks and even on commercial breaks during t.v. programs. Not for the next week. I will be committed to dedicated reading and reading out loud to one’s self is something he recommends. I will be doing that 3x per week for 20 minutes.
  3. Last, but not least, I will commit to daily journaling. I will occasionally write here to there in a journal, if I can find it. My commitment is to write on my planner daily the 5 things for which I am grateful.

Here is the video.

I will be keeping you updated on my progress.

Stay in the boat

Icon of The Ark of Salvation - (GML11) - Uncut Mountain Supply
Thsi icon depicts the Orthodox Church as a ship under constant attack.

If I post a recipe, the visits are many more than if I talk about Christ and the Orthodox Church. Jesus had something to say about that: John 6:26, KJV: “Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.”

I get it… times are tough. Times were tough in Jesus’ day and times will always be tough for someone. There is more to life than recipes. things that are important for us to become refined enough to live in the presence of God for all eternity.

Elder Thaddeus | Prayer and fasting, Saint quotes, Catholic quotes

I have had no response from anyone to let me know if they are interested in the study of Elder Thaddeus. In today’s world of weird and unnatural teachings being fobbed off as, ‘Christian’ I think you would truly benefit from reading about the life of this extraordinary man.

Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives: the Life and Teachings of Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica by [Ana Smiljanic]

I will begin the study this weekend. If you have your book, do your best to read through the story of his life. It is several pages. It’s a lot but don’t panic if you can’t get through it. Catch up as you can. the important thing is to try your best.

Don’t lose yourself, or give yourself away, to the things of this world. they are so very fleeting!

For now at least…

The influence of the Greek Orthodox Church – Balkan Hotspot

For the first time in over a year, I was able to kiss the chalice that holds the blessed blood and body of my Blessed Savior!

I went to the grocery store after the presanctified Liturgy this morning. Standing in the cold section looking at premade teas the full realization of that blessed event hit me full force and my eyes welled up with tears.

I was able to take the eucharist, have my lips wiped with the cloth by a helper and kiss-the-chalice!!

We still had to wear masks but still… it’s been over a year since we have been able to properly partake of the blessed sacrament of Holy Communion. Even now I’m getting misty eyed.

It’s been tough. China virus cases are on the rise again in our area so who knows how long this blessing will last? I’m sure some time during Holy Week things will escalate with all the extra bodies in church but for now, I am cautiously optimistic and i am being very careful. If I feel my health is at risk I will high tail it outta there!
