There must be a better way

I did something interesting over the summer… I took some witchcraft classes, created an alias, and infiltrated some groups on social media. My goal? To better understand pagans, wiccans and witches in order to better discuss with them the gospel.

One question I asked was: “If you have a deity belief system, why would you believe evolution over your creation myth? There is NO scientific evidence for evolution.”

Instead of finding out about other people’s belief system of creation, I received a scalding hot earful of vitriol and name calling.

I had always thought that evolution was used by atheists to get people to stop believing in ANY deity, not just to try and get Christians to walk away from God. I did not get to read much about other people’s creation myths which is unfortunate. What I did discover which truly surprised me was, these groups of people all believed either fully in evolution, or a combination of evolution and whatever deity system they held dear. Mostly, however… and disappointingly, the conversation devolved (hee-hee) into arguments and name calling.

There has to be a better way… does there not?

While some of the ancient fathers, theologians and philosophers were against literal interpretation of the Genesis telling of creation LINK I tend to lean toward the ideas and writings of modern day supporters of the Genesis account.

We can see in various passages of scripture the description of the stars and planets and their placement in the constellations. The bible is accurate about that information to the point where the Wise Men used the stars to show them the way to the Christ child AND the stars can be used to tell someone of the gospel story.

In the book of Job, God asks, Job “

Job 38:4-30

English Standard Version

“Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
On what were its bases sunk,
    or who laid its cornerstone,
when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

“Or who shut in the sea with doors
when it burst out from the womb,
when I made clouds its garment
and thick darkness its swaddling band,
10 and prescribed limits for it
    and set bars and doors,
11 and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther,
and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?

12 “Have you commanded the morning since your days began,
and caused the dawn to know its place,
13 that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth,
and the wicked be shaken out of it?
14 It is changed like clay under the seal,
and its features stand out like a garment.
15 From the wicked their light is withheld,
and their uplifted arm is broken.

16 “Have you entered into the springs of the sea,
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you,
or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?
18 Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?
Declare, if you know all this.

19 “Where is the way to the dwelling of light,
and where is the place of darkness,
20 that you may take it to its territory
and that you may discern the paths to its home?
21 You know, for you were born then,
and the number of your days is great!

22 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow,
or have you seen the storehouses of the hail,
23 which I have reserved for the time of trouble,
for the day of battle and war?
24 What is the way to the place where the light is distributed,
or where the east wind is scattered upon the earth?

25 “Who has cleft a channel for the torrents of rain
and a way for the thunderbolt,
26 to bring rain on a land where no man is,
on the desert in which there is no man,
27 to satisfy the waste and desolate land,
and to make the ground sprout with grass?

28 “Has the rain a father,
or who has begotten the drops of dew?
29 From whose womb did the ice come forth,
and who has given birth to the frost of heaven?
30 The waters become hard like stone,
and the face of the deep is frozen.Read full chapter

The reason why I think it is so important that Christians lay hold of the Genesis creation account (not myth.. ACCOUNT) is because evolution is used as a lame attempt to disprove ALL of the bible but especially the gospel. If there is no Adam nor Eve, then there is no reason for Christ to have come to redeem us.

Get it? No creation, no fall, no need for a Savior and certainly no resurrection. It matters. either all of the bible matters or none of it does. We tend to get ourselves caught on a slippery slope telling ourselves this or that does not matter. This is how alternative lifestyles are given a toe hold where they should never be allowed.

As Christians, what are we doing to be apart from the world? Not a part of the world… apart as in separate from the world?

I went to ladies group today for the first time in a WHILE.

This is the book we are reading for those of you who would like to join in. today’s lesson was about grace, and some other things I will go into in my next post.

If you have been a staunch supporter of evolution over the creation account in Genesis, I lovingly urge you to read more about it. Maybe even watch some Kent Hovind videos on the topic. He has a fair few. I put on down below to help you get started.
