Beware the liberal priest

Women's Head Coverings in the Orthodox Church - Saint Luke The Blessed Surgeon Church

At first, a priest telling the women of his parish not to practice head covering may seem like something to celebrate. Head coverings can be hot and itchy; especially if you are a woman with thick, long hair who happens to be going through ‘the change’. These priests who say, ‘it’s not cultural’ have a very feeble (in my opinion- for what that’s forth) basis for their argument against head covering. What does caring about cultural trends have to do with being a Christian?

Head covering is biblical. It is a protection for women against evil. Do priests or bishops have the right to disarm a woman in the midst of battle. Perhaps some who make such declarations do not fully understand the importance of head covering for women? Head covering is a gift from God. How very bold it is for men to take away the things given to women by God.

Here is the bible verse of head covering written by St. Paul.

1 Corinthians 11:Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved. For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. 10 For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. 12 For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.

Does your priest remove his hat when he prays during the liturgy? Yes. Why? Because God said to. This is the same reason why priests should allow women to head cover… because God said to.

A little note and then we will get into this verse a bit more AND talk about what, St. Paul may have been referring to when he wrote. “because of the angels.”.

My side note story. Years ago when I was looking for something more in a church (later I discovered it was Orthodoxy) I attended a few services at a couple of churches in town that seemed to be part of a more dogmatic teaching but in actuality had contracted the illness of feminism.

They had allowed women to serve as priests. These women had opted for manly haircuts rather than cover their heads. You could not tell a woman from a man among the people standing at the altar. No matter what the world tries to tell you, it is not part of God’s plan that men and women should become indistinguishable from one another.

Now back to the part of the bible verse that mentions, ‘because of the angels.’.

Years ago, before I ever thought about being anything other than an evangelical Christian, the Lord took me on a journey to learn about head covering; why women shoudl do it and why it is NOT a cultural preference from a bygone era. Head covering has a valid place within EVERY modern church that considers itself to be; A. a Christian church and B. a Bible believing church. Now folks, we all know that as Christians we have free will. Free will exercised in the wrong direction is what happened to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. Usually you hear the phrase, ‘free will’ used to defend sin and rebellion. They are the same thing… but I digress. Did you know that you also have the free will to OBEY scripture. Whoa. Right? Head covering is so powerfully protective that of course the world (full of demons) is going to tell women to to do it. If your priest tells you not to do something like head covering because it might offend the neighbors, talk to him about it using scripture until your blue in the face and he gives up and at least makes it optional.

ANGELS

EFFECT ON THE FALLEN ANGELS

To understand the effect of the woman’s headcovering on fallen angels, we must consider the relationship of the first woman, Eve, with the first fallen angel, HaSatan [Satan]. Both Old and New Testaments tell us that through the serpent, Eve was deceived by this fallen angel. [Gen 3:13: I Tim. 2:14]. What was it that made the woman vulnerable to deception? IT WAS SIMPLY THE FACT THAT SHE WAS ACTING INDEPENDENTLY FROM, RATHER THAN IN SUBMISSION TO THE MAN’S [ADAM HER HUSBAND’S] AUTHORITY, The deception would not have taken place, for we are told that “Adam was not deceived” [I Tim. 2:14]. The headcovering is now Yahweh’s ordained means of showing the fallen angles that a woman is under both man and Yahweh’s (Elohim) authority. The sight of a visible covering on a woman’s head announces to the fallen angels that this woman, unlike Eve, is not going to act independently from Yahweh’s (Elohim) authority.  The headcovering tells the fallen angels that this woman is in her rightful position of authority, and she is not in a position [as Eve was] to be tempted and harassed and deceived as easily as an uncovered woman would be.  Therefore, the woman who covers her head in obedience to Yahushua should expect a greater degree of freedom from demonic temptation, harassment, and deception.  Ignoring the Bible’s instruction about the headcovering invites unnecessary trouble from fallen angels, just as HEEDING the instructions invites ministry from unfallen angels. There are other angels that have fallen who are bound in ‘chains of darkness’ waiting the Judgmentstyle=”mso-spacerun: yes” [2 Peter 2:4] These are the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation’ [Jude 6]. Jude confirms that Sodom and Gomorrah followed the example of these fallen angels ‘…in like manner…’ giving themselves over to fornication and going after strange flesh’ [Jude 7]. Because of the sin of those angels was leaving their Yahweh-appointed place in order to have illicit relationships with women; the woman’s headcovering is of great significance, for it says that the woman is in her Yahweh-appointed place.style=”mso-spacerun: yes” The headcovering reminds all fallen angels that woman’s appointed place is with man, not with angels. By covering her head, the woman declares to the angels that she submits to Yahweh’s authority, and therefore, she will not submit to the authority of fallen angels. In addition, every woman with a covered head gives a silent but powerful testimony against those angels who are now bound in chains of darkness. It puts the fallen angels to shame, and vindicates Yahweh’s righteous judgment against those who would leave their Yahweh-appointed place and rebel against Yahweh’s order of authority.style=”mso-spacerun: yes” Watchman Nee perceived the importance of this truth by saying ‘This is a most excellent testimony to the fallen and to the unfallen ones’. No wonder HaSatan [Satan] persistently opposes the matter of headcovering. It really puts him to shame. We are doing what he has failed to do. (By staying in Yahweh’s appointed place). What Yahweh did not receive from angels, He now has from the body of believers.

This article no longer exists like this on the Internet but it did. I have added it to my personal archives and it is a treasure. If you would like it sent to you in its entirety contact me below and I will send it to you.

So when a priest caters to the world, he is really catering to Satan. It might seem like the right thing to do as all such things seem to be at first. But it quickly becomes a slippery slope into the waiting jaws of death. I know I sound dramatic, perhaps too much so for some but go back and re- read what the author of this article (a Jewish Rabbi) wrote about obedience and angels! It is dramatic. It is powerful and you are going to throw that away… throw away your safety! over political correctness? Have we not already given too much up to that very specific and tainted-with-evil, way of thinking?

Head coverings are not oppressive and evil. Just the opposite. They are protection and comfort.

If I have offended you, please pray for me. Ladies again I urge you to talk to your priest if he is against head covering. Pray about it first. Ask God to lead you and to let His words on the topic come out of your mouth when you speak to your priest. Be humble in your speech. show the scriptures to him that support head covering (old and new testament). Again I will send this article to whomever asks for it.
