Letting go of extra weight that no longer serves its purpose

I have been studying moon phases lately. In the past, the phases of the moon were observed more in agriculture especially but also in a time when people were more connected to nature, the moon was observed and used in many ways. It seems that mostly these days the phases of the moon have been reduced to scientific observations and brief mentions on the local news merely for photographic interest or for those interested in star gazing. There is nothing wrong with any of these hobbies, but what if, what if using the phases of the moon to benefit certain times, and activities or desires in your life actually worked?

Without the moon, there would be no tide. The Farmer’s Almanac recommends planting seeds during a full moon so that they have more light by which to germinate.

It is recommended to begin new ventures on the full moon and to eliminate unwanted things during a waning moon.

We are now in a waning gibbous moon phase. A great time to start a journey to release excess weight that no longer serves you.

What once protected you now brings you harm through ill-health. Is it time to let go of the extra weight that no longer serves you? Perhaps it did aid you at one point? Perhaps it helped you to feel protected and safe? Perhaps it (for men especially) added to your size and people left you alone? Maybe it caused the opposite sex to ignore you thereby (you thought) saving you from the pain of rejection? Maybe you thought gaining weight would protect you from physical abuse? Things change. So too can you. If certain people are no longer in your life, or if you would like to have certain people in your life, why not give this a shot? (Even if abusers are still in your life and they will tease you or reject you for changing, muscle is stronger than fat. Things could change for the better in other areas of your life during this time. I am not making any promises or guarantees but your confidence could increase enough to give you the strength to walk away from whatever, or whomever, caused you to feel the need to gain weight in the first place.)

There are of course no clinical studies about whether or not such things work but what can it hurt? Not everything needs a clinical study to be valid. Your mind is powerful. Perhaps it needs a boost… an ‘all clear’ signal so that it can tell your body it is ok to change and begin to release the weight that no longer serves your purpose?

Mental preparedness is at the heart of success. Self-talk can help. What if you combined these things and did them during a waning moon and perhaps added the right kind of crystal, or two, to the mix as a sort of personal experiment. What if it all worked? Perhaps you are ready to release that extra weight, perhaps you are not. Perhaps it is a good time to experiment and find out?

My waning moon self-talk’

“I am beginning a journey of change to release and let go of the extra weight that no longer serves me. It had a purpose once but that purpose has gone… it no longer exists. I am safe, I am loved, I thank that extra weight for its help and now I release it to go on its way. I no longer need your protection. I welcome and embrace the new me that is coming. I am ready to release excess weight and to move more lightly in the world.”

During this 2 week waning moon phase, try to use up the left overs in your fridge. Eat lighter, perhaps do a gentles cleanse? I like a cilantro and cardamom pod tea. Be sure to drink plenty of water wile you cleanse. Some people drink hot water a lemon in the morning. You could try this every morning for the two week waning moon phase. Perhaps a nice parsley tea with lemon? These cleanses will make you visit the bathroom more. Be aware of your needs during this time. If you do not have easy access to a toilet a cleanse is not the best thing to do… but don’t let that discourage you from making the most of this time or keep you from beginning a weight loss journey.
