Nature journaling exercise
Shown in the photo above are the different techniques you can use to shade an illustration: top-side of pencil, middle 1- cross hatching, middle 2- the tip or point of the pencil was used, bottom- stippling where the tip of the pencil is used to create a random dot pattern. The closer the dots are to one another, the darker the tone which creates shading. Across the top of the example I noted the type of pencil used for each column.
