“It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.” -Mark Twain
My mother still thinks a bowl of oat meal, which is full of sugar just on its own with nothing added to it, will cure my husband of his diabetes.
As a confirmed meat eater, I struggle with constantly being bombarded by those who refuse to do their own research… and thinking, and are convinced beyond reason that a plant based diet is the BEST diet for everyone. The scary part of this is that if they could outlaw eating meat, they would.
I read an article on, Medium written by a man who went on an all meat diet for 90 days. I was looking up all meat diets because I participated in an online health survey in which one of the choices for how you eat was, ‘carnivore’. When I started to do research, I came across, Andy’s article. If you want to be entertained, grab some crispy bacon strips and read the comments by the vegans.
I too have been attacked by vegans for what I write about eating meat. Some of the responses are so unhinged you would think I was coming to their house to eat their children. I don’t post them because Crazy doesn’t get it’s own space on my blog.
I enjoyed, Andy’s article and so in the true spirit of the Internet, I stole some of the images from his post to re-post here.
I have a vegan friend (I know right?). We were friends before she turned vegan and I love her like a sister so I’ll keep her. She would refute each one of these points, I’m sure, with her own chart. ‘We have flat teeth so we should eat plants’, etc.
While my back teeth are neither flat nor razor sharp, I do have fingers, knives and forks to help break up my food into a manageable size before it enters my mouth. The sharp pointy teeth of a canine help to propel its food to the back of its mouth and down its throat. There is not much chewing going on. More ripping and tearing. People can rip and tear and chew. People are awesome.
The point I am trying to make is this, Do you see any top teeth on these grass eaters? No. But you did see them on the canine. Who else has top teeth? People!
I love this next image.
Eating red meat does NOT cause cancer or heart disease but this sacred cow just refuses to die and go away. When my husband had his stent put in, I felt like I had stepped back in time to the fifties after Eisenhower had his heart attack. The nurses were joking with my husband about how he would have to go on a ‘heart healthy’ diet. It was as if no one in the office had ever read anything refuting the benefits of the old info of what is considered heart healthy which creates more issues than it prevents DANGERS OF A LOW FAT DIET.
I have been reading up on vitamin C lately and how it can raise HDL levels and lower LDL levels. If you have high cholesterol, you might want to see if it helps. I have to say ‘ask your doctor’ ar I could be sued so, ask your doctor before taking supplements of any kind. Chances are he/she has never heard of the benefits of vitamin C on cholesterol and will call it quackery but ask him anyway. If he doesn’t outright say, ‘no you will die’ consider giving it a go and see how it works for you.
Symptoms of Vitamin C deficiency
Fatigue / exhaustion
Poor wound healing and tissue regeneration
Bleeding and sore gums, loose teeth
High cholesterol levels (a sign of Vitamin C deficiency)
I still maintain that the best diet is the one that works with your body. If you have been struggling trying to eat a more plant based diet but you are experiencing; heart burn, constipation, fatigue, brain fog, etc., perhaps plant based is not for you? It’s ok to eat meat. It’s okay not to eat plants. Really.
Despite what hysterical vegans will tell you, you are not the sole reason for the apocalypse because you like to eat steak…
and bacon. Tasty, tasty bacon.
Wait… not done. lol
Happy Meat-filled Monday!
